Press Release: 1MTN Announces East African Carbon Markets Forum


Kampala, March 6, 2024 – 1MTN, the high-quality nature-based carbon removal project developer in East Africa, is thrilled to announce the East African Carbon Markets Forum. This inaugural event, scheduled for May 9th and 10th in Kampala, Uganda, aims to create a dynamic platform for local and global stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. The event is organised in partnership with Seagrass, Verra, Innovation: Africa and the Uganda Investment Authority. 


The forum will foster knowledge exchange, collaboration, and actionable discussions, driving advancements in sustainable development goals through innovative carbon market initiatives. Bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and carbon market professionals, the East African Carbon Markets Forum promises an engaging agenda featuring keynotes, thought-provoking panel discussions, and practical workshops. The event will serve as a pivotal opportunity for shaping the future of carbon markets in the region.


The first day of the forum will delve into the latest regulatory developments in the carbon market landscape, providing a unique platform for discussion and feedback on their implications. Day two will shift the spotlight towards the intersection of climate finance in East Africa with carbon markets and corporate net zero goals. Attendees will also explore investment opportunities in the region through a showcase of carbon projects.
